We spent a lot of the late Autumn of 2010 and the very cold winter holed up on a mooring at Finnington Bridge, very close and convenient to home,

then on 17th Feb, we set off, travelled a couple of miles and moored outside the house of our friends, Tom and Irene at Feniscowles for the night.

Thanks to John Wood, Chris, Carolyn and John Rushton, we got to top lock, Barrowford after a two day voyage through the industrial towns of East Lancashire without any problems and even had proper stops for lunch.

The barge behaved perfectly throughout, but we got the propellor well fouled up at Barden bridge and that took half an hour to clear and a few lesser do's in Nelson, but the speed through Blackburn was amazing on Saturday and we didn't have any brats bother us for the whole trip!

Sailing over the           Burnley Embankment at around 9am was a very impressive experience,  The secret seems to be to go through these places early in the morning.

Looking down at the canal from Whitebirk Roundabout, we have often wondered how we would fit through here

We spent the half - way night at Rosegrove in the safe haven of BW’s yard and then had a very early start again through the

Gannow Tunnel and over the Motorway
